Mannen som stoppa hurtigruta / The man who stopped the coastal steamer

By Simone Grøtte. Co - produced by Hålogaland Theater, Norway 2014.

The man who stopped the coastal steamer is a dance performance exploring the rich Sami/Norwegian tradition of storytelling. Through movement and authentic audio recordings, the fascinating story of a legendary Sami shaman unfolds. Johan Kaaven was one of the most famous shamans of the Nordic region. He could heal sickness, and he could see into the future. He could even stop the coastal ferry steamer with the power of thought.

The man who stopped the coastal steamer is a performance that defies reason. Because we must never stop believing in miracles.
